Pronunciation of words with a “-tion” suffix

In English, words that end in a “-tion” suffix are nouns.  Examples of such words are: education, transportation, celebration.

For such words, the syllable before the “-tion” has the primary stress.  The syllable with the primary stress if louder and longer than the other syllables.  It also has the highest pitch.  So, for example, the “ca” syllable in “e.du.ca.tion” has the primary stress.
